Workshop Equipment

If it’s time to retire your tyre changing equipment, the team at Precision Equipment has all the answers and options you’ll need to make an informed decision.

Informed decision? Absolutely. The Precision Equipment team don’t only know their products, they’ve actually used them in workshops just like yours, giving them a unique perspective on what from the Summit or Rotary ranges will work best in your business.

“There is,” as sales manager Cory Nicholls points out, “no percentage in convincing customers to buy something which ultimately does not improve their bottom line.

“The brands we represent not only come with their factory backing; they also come with Precision Equipment’s assurance of quality and that they are the products best suited to your business requirements and success.”

Precision Equipment is synonymous with both the home-grown Summit and Rotary brand of tyre changing and wheel balancing machines.

Of the two, the Rotary brand is the most comprehensive, with an extensive catalogue of quality Italian machines, each carrying a three-year factory warranty.

While there are 12 tyre changers in the Rotary range, including specialised medium and heavy-duty truck tyre units, Precision Equipment has equipped its display workshop with the tyre changers best suited to New Zealand tyre shop requirements.

“We can bring in tyre changers like the lever-less R1180 model with its variable speed control and 30-inch rim diameter expansion, or the R560 mobile heavy-duty unit compact enough to suit small workshops or mobile service vehicles.

“We have showcased the popular and traditional speed-changers – the R641, R643 and entry priced R441 – in our display workshop near Auckland airport.”

The R641 features a three-phase motor while the R643 is available in three-phase or single-phase units and accommodate tyres of 10-inch up to 26-inches.

Well suited to the dedicated tyre workshop, they incorporate either a two speed or variable speed control, giving technicians the ability to regulate turntable speed to reduce stress on the tyre bead.

Each comes standard with a pedal operated fast inflation system and a pressure reducing, lubricating filter for ease of maintenance and increased longevity.

“Similarly,” adds Cory “we can bring in any of Rotary’s four passenger tyre balancer units and even truck wheel balancers, but again, based on what we know our industry requires from our personal experience in workshops, the R348, R355 or the R380 are the ones we have as demonstration units.”

The R380 incorporates automatic wheel dimension sonar and a laser rim scanner to deliver faster and more efficient balancing, reducing wheel weight wastage and improving accuracy of placement.

The R355 has a smaller chassis than the larger R380, but is fitted with 3D Wheel Ultrasonic width gauge for automatic measurement of the rim, laser pointer for exact weight placement and an internal dataset arm for quick measurement and programming.

As to the home-grown option, the Summit range is described as reliable, dependable, easy to operate and affordable. All Summit equipment comes with a 12-month factory warranty.

Summit offers traditional tilt and swing-arm or lever-less models, very helpful when it comes to protecting against rim damage when changing low profile or run-flat tyres.

As well, Summit manufactures a selection of quality wheel balancers all powered by single phase motors, all capable of balancing wheels from 10-inch to 28-inch wheel diameters.

This demonstrates the Summit products available for the passenger car market at least, but what if your customers have slightly larger vehicles; trucks or buses?

In that case, you should be looking at either the LC588s light to medium, three-phase power, basic truck tyre changer suited to 1600mm tyre diameters and 1000mm wheel widths with 26-inch internal clamping, or the medium to heavy duty LC590 advanced truck tyre changer.

The LC590 also runs three-phase power but has a 2200mm tyre diameter, 1100mm wheel width capacity and 14 to 56-inch internal clamping ability.

Completing the Summit range are the SF8 movable cabinet and SF9 fixed column advanced 3D wheel aligners.

Using high-definition, 6.4-megapixel cameras, combined with automatic target tracking and a motorised boom and three-finger, easy adjust wheel clamps, these wheel alignment machines make fast and accurate measurements clearly displayed on 32-inch colour LCD monitors.
