Holiday Mode

Ed Speak

Christmas is coming and it could be a bit weird this year, who knows if some parts of the country will still be lockdown and unable to travel outside their area. This potentially will mean people will leave their plans late, but one thing we can ensured of is that any holiday travel will be local not overseas (possibly very local for us unfortunate Aucklanders). With many vehicles having had limited use with lockdowns and work from home, then a good pre-holiday check/service is essential. In this month’s feature we look at some of the things to consider for pre-holiday servicing but more importantly how this could be a great selling tool for workshops. Use your social media and website to promote it, give out flyers to everyone who comes to your workshop and generate some business. Apart from the checks there will be some inevitable parts sales when issues arise.

It is also a great time to figure out how you can get some relaxation in yourself over the summer (and your team). This has been a trying year for everyone, but especially for business owners, so make sure you allow some time out to recharge your batteries and ensure you are firing on all cylinders.

It is also a good time to think about what changes you could make to your business for next year – new services, new equipment, improve your waiting room or reception area or upgrade your social media presence and website.

Don’t forget about your team – start planning Christmas functions, break up BBQ’s and maybe a Christmas present for team members.

I am sure we are all waiting in anticipation for the end of the year when we can put on our Jandals and sunscreen grab a cold one and chill out for a few weeks.
