Why use high temperature paints?
To keep the car looking good we paint many components, when these components are exposed to high temperatures specific High Temp products and preparation are needed to ensure paint longevity. This can apply to painting components such as engines, exhaust systems, brake calipers, radiators, and wheels (which get transferred heat from the brakes). For the higher temperature components, a suitable primer is usually needed as well as the topcoat.

You’ll be rapt with the range
Raptor supply an extensive range of specially formulated High Temp Enamel paints and primers in convenient aerosol cans with a range of colours. Formulations cover a number of temperature ranges from 120 degrees C through to 1000 degrees. At the 120-degree end are two products for Roll Bar & Chassis and Wheels. Raptor claim their paints are five times tougher than standard paint, is self-priming and has good UV resistance. The wheel paint is chemically resistant to oils and traffic films and protects against brake dust. Next up are the engine paints with 300-degree rating, these come in engine enamel plus engine primer. These contain ceramic resins and provide superior protection against heat, oil and other automotive fluids. They provide excellent adhesion that won’t blister, crack, or peel. The primer can be used on substrates such as bare metal, galvanised steel and aluminium. Raptor High Temp Caliper enamel is rated at 500-degrees and again uses ceramic resins and is self-priming. The top end of the range is the Raptor High Temp Flameproof paint and primer with a 1000-degree rating. This is designed for exhaust systems including manifolds and other areas needing high temperature protection. Again, these use advanced ceramic technology to give excellent adhesion. Strength and resistance to automotive fluids. All of the paints are available in red and black with some having clear and gloss or satin options.

Raptor High Temp paints are available at your local NAPA Auto Parts branch or Repco.
