Goss hoses make the grade

Goss hoses make the grade

Parts

Hoses. You will find them across every vehicle application, including EV’s. Transferring everything from air, oil, coolant to brake and transmission fluids – if it’s a fluid, there is a good chance a hose is moving it from point A to point B. Visually they all look similar, but like anything it’s what’s inside that truly counts.

Generally being made of rubber, hoses are considered a consumable part and at some point or another will have to be replaced. It may be tempting to just grab whatever you find off the shelf and send the vehicle back out, but these hoses are often crucial to the safe operation of the vehicle. You must use the correct hose and clamps specific to each application.

Goss offer an expansive range of SAE compliant hoses suitable for a wide range of applications, whether it be fuel, heating, cooling, transmission oil, power steering or engine vacuum, we have the correct hose for the task at hand.

Take our Powerbrake Vacuum hose. Made from acrylonitrile butadiene rubber, these hoses are resistant against heat, oil, grease, abrasion, weathering and ozone. With a wide operating temperature range of -40ºC to 125ºC and a working pressure of 150psi, these hoses are intended to be used in light-duty vehicles’ power braking systems or as connections to vacuum lines and related systems.

Compliant with SAE J1403, the Goss vacuum hose meets all legal requirements for its purpose and presents a strong and durable alternative to its OE counterpart.

But why not just use any hose?
Using a non-compliant or incorrect hose for the application can have consequences ranging from a minor air leak to a disastrous fuel leak. Even using a J1402 complaint hose instead of J1403 in the braking system could result in damage to the outer cover, internal reinforcement webbing, risking a leak in your vacuum braking system. Using a hose with incorrect specifications may also affect your warrant of fitness and you can potentially risk a fine.

Goss carries J1403 compliant hose in two internal diameters; 9mm or 12mm, and in a range of lengths from one metre packs to 30 metre dispensers.
