Kia has unveiled teaser sketches of an all-new concept vehicle to be unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Kia describes it as a racy new urban concept and the images show it to be a sporty three-door hatchback with a hint of cross-over elements in the design - in keeping with the young and sporting image of the Kia brand.
Muscular wheel arches and large air intakes positioned in the lower front bumper, plus a power bulge in the bonnet and lowered roofline certainly underscore the sporty pretentions of the vehicle.
Among the clearly recognisable design elements seen on the concept are the latest interpretation of the signature tiger-nose grille and LED headlights, along with the strong-yet-simple styling lines eschewed by Kia Motors’ design chief and now group president, Peter Schreyer.
The concept has yet to be given a name but this may be released just ahead of the Geneva show, which opens in early March. No details have been made available either at this stage for the engine or drivetrain under its bulging bonnet.
The Kia concept is expected to be joined at the show by the recently unveiled GT versions of the European-built cee’d five-door and pro-cee’d three-door hatchbacks.
Kia has a reputation for developing many of its concept vehicles into full production cars that later go on sale to the public, so all eyes will be on how the Geneva concept relates to the rest of the Kia Motors range.
