Impressive and reliable Waeco air conditioning workshop equipment is available now in New Zealand. CoolCar Air-Conditioning Centres Ltd is the sole distributor. CoolCar is owned by five vehicle air conditioning and heating specialist businesses with a long history in the industry.

According to one CoolCar director, Rodney Smith, “A Waeco ASC refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharging station, such as the ASC2000, is a serious piece of equipment if you want to future proof your ability to work on modern air conditioning systems with the measuring accuracy to cope with small charge weight tolerances in late model, low charge weight vehicles.

“On-board dye and oil in aerosol cans means application is clean and no fuss.  The equipment doesn’t become contaminated like some I’ve seen dripping in dye and the hygroscopic oil stays dry. I especially like the durable, powder-coated steel case with easy-to-use control panel and display.  It’s not a plastic-fantastic − it’ll still be looking good in 10 years.”

A pre-loaded data card can be replaced periodically for newer vehicle information and other vehicle charge weights can be added in-house.

Training in the specific use of the ASC at time of supply is included in the purchase price.

A DIY re-gas or an “aircon service” with an expensive looking station is sometimes marketed to consumers as the solution to vehicle air conditioning woes, but CoolCar knows there is much more to diagnosis and repairs than that, so more-general training in automotive air conditioning and heating is offered. This can be followed by telephone-based vehicle diagnostic support on a fee-for-service basis.

“Contaminated refrigerant is an increasingly common cause of system malfunction. Air conditioning workshops should have a refrigerant identifier available to help diagnose faults and conserve refrigerant purity for recycling or destruction. The ASC2500RPA with on-board identifier is available.”

The Waeco Oil Checker is another top tool.  It allows determination of oil condition in a still functioning but failing system, such as a vehicle with a noisy compressor.  It can help guide decisions on how far to go in the remedial plan, such as flushing and condenser replacement.
