Thrills galore at 2015 Speedshow

Motorsport

The CRC Speedshow, to be held at Ellerslie Showgrounds in Auckland on July 18-19, returns for its ninth year with even more cool, fast and exotic race cars, supercars and motorbikes, plus the best array of new vehicles available to New Zealander’s.

With an incredible line-up featuring a bunch of brand new cars and bikes, a range of luxury cars including one special Ferrari, and a DeLorean time machine from “Back to the Future”, it is sure to be a great show.

After bringing the incredible Ferrari 358 Speciale at the 2014 show all the way from Italy, the team from Continental Cars is doing it again with an equally exotic vehicle. While we can’t reveal exactly what this is yet, you won’t want to miss this spectacular supercar.

The CRC Speedshow will also feature a bunch of other car manufacturers with their latest and greatest cars including Peugeot, Hyundai, Porsche, McLaren, Audi, and more.

Or if muscle is more your style, you’ll love Project Giddy-Up. Project Giddy-Up is inspired by the 1967 Mustang GT500 from the movie “Gone in 60 Seconds”, and is all about transforming a standard 2007 Mustang GT into a high-performance yet hot-looking machine.

The Mustang is currently undergoing a complete overhaul including brake and suspension upgrades, while improving engine performance and adding in luxury items like a complete new Fusion sound system.

It will almost be unrecognisable when it finally gets revealed for the first time at the CRC Speedshow. To follow progress on Project Giddy-Up, including the parts and products we’re using on this machine see www.projectgiddyup.co.nz. We’d also welcome any of your feedback on this build!

Also featuring this year is the refreshed Teng Tools Grand National Rod and Custom Show which features a stunning collection of some of New Zealand’s best custom cars and motorcycles. This is a first of its kind show, supported by the New Zealand Hot Rod Association, and has an entire hall all to itself.

Some of the confirmed vehicles include Bruce Carter’s 1933 Ford Tudor with a 350 Chev engine under the bonnet, along with Maureen Fairburn’s distinctive purple 1934 Ford Coupe from Christchurch. Plus, Teng Tools are giving away a bunch of tools for visitors who vote on their favourite display. Could be a useful way to score some freebies?

The year 2015 also brings back the hugely popular Classic Cover Insurance Classic Show where dozens of original classic cars and bikes will be put on display. The mini-show-within-a-show also has its own dedicated hall but is dedicated to original and restored classic vehicles and we’re sure you’ll love the range of vehicles as much as we will.

One display that kids, of all ages, will love is the 'Back to the Future' style DeLorean time machine replica made here in New Zealand. Remember the movie, where the actor Michael J Fox as Marty McFly, went to the year 2015 - well, this is that year! The 1982 DeLorean DMC-12 Time Machine has electronics inside the car work and sounds just as it does in the movie. It's sure to be a massive hit, and something not seen at CRC Speedshow before.

If all of that wasn’t enough, the CRC Speedshow is also celebrating the varied achievements of Women in Motorsport at the 2015 show. Emma Gilmour, Kat Benson and Deborah Day are among the first confirmed participants in the display whose achievements speak for themselves. Plus we’ll have plenty of other motorsport competitors and cars at the show if racing is up your alley.

The Right Karts Celebrity Charity Kart Challenge is also back for another year in the live action arena as it gives drivers and riders from all walks of motorsport to go head to head; a real one-of-a-kind challenge. Last year Drift King “Fanga” Dan Woolhouse took out the title and we’ve heard the V8 boys want revenge. We’ve already confirmed Michael Pickens, Emma Gilmour, Andrew Stroud, and Andre Heimgartner with more big names to come. It’ll be all on this year, so will be one heck of a race to watch!

Add in the excitement of the rest of live action arena and the massive array of performance parts and accessories and other automotive-related products and services, and CRC Speedshow is a “must do” weekend of automotive brilliance.

There's a lot more too, so check out the website for more information and discounted tickets www.speedshow.co.nz
