Royale Brake Programme from SAS

Parts

SAS are proud to supply the Royale range of brake parts. This is a programme they have built themselves and they say that Royale components have some great features to set them apart.

Pads – Royale uses an “OE” formula disc pad that undergoes vigorous testing to ensure safe braking, even in extreme circumstances. The pads are tested firstly for hardness, secondly for sheer force, which is where the pad meets the backing steel plate. Thirdly the pads are tested for the percent of remaining formula left on the backing plate and the final test is to measure the density of the remaining pad. They are also tested for fade through various temperatures and the recovery time it takes to regain the pads efficiency. The main Royale pad range uses Ceramic based compounds for additional environmental safety whilst the Green range is copper free and environmentally friendly.

Royale have fitments available for over 1,100 models, pads come shrink wrapped and include running in instructions, a steering wheel sticker to draw the driver’s attention to having new pads and silicone shims and wired sensors where required.

Rotors – Royale rotors are built to “OE” formula so the rotors are built to the same weight as the OE rotors, which can be important for compatibility to modern suspension and ADAS systems. In addition, all of the Royale rotors have Geomet coating.  Geomet is a premium corrosion resistant coating system, which is non embrittling meaning the rotor will not become brittle. Geomet helps prevent rust and works to keep environmental safety a priority.

Geomet is a special water-based solution containing zinc, metal oxides and aluminium flakes, sprayed over the rotor surface to ensure that the disc surface and vents are completely coated. Then the coated disc is baked at 600 degrees to form a durable and attractive silver-gray finish which resists rust, road salt, solvents and other corrosives.

Key features of Royale Geomet coated rotors include:
• Temperature resistance (400°c).
• Protection inside the vents: no oxidation inside the fins-better thermal exchange while braking, no rust to block air ventilation.
• For the after-market assembler: Geomet enables the assembly of brake rotors without pre-degreasing (dry protection) as they are ready to install straight out of the box.
• The stronger corrosion protection of Geomet on the hub mounting surface makes brake disc dismounting easier.
• Geomet coating is toxic-free and contains no chromium, nickel, cadmium, lead, barium or mercury. It is also solvent-free in application.

The Royale Brake Programme is available from SAS’s 19 nationwide branches www.sasgroup.nz.
