Passing another new Fox Fighter

Asia-Pacific logistics giant Linfox has recently upgraded its fleet with 14 new Fuso Fighters. The reliable mid-weight truck is proving a popular choice for large inner-city operators up and down the country.

Linfox NZ fleet manager Glen Walker made the decision to purchase the FN281U2A 6x4s for work on metro FMCG delivery routes in Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch – a decision he says was based on extensive research and backed by trust in the Fuso brand.

“The Fighter was the perfect model for what we were looking for,” says Glen. “The trucks will be running in cities, so the automatic gearbox is perfect for the drivers with all the stopping and starting they will be doing.”

Founded in Australia in 1956 by Lindsay Fox, Linfox now operates in 10 countries, employs more than 23,000 people, and has a fleet of more than 5,000 vehicles.

The company manages logistics across a broad range of industries and their customer base features some of the biggest organisations in the world, including Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Kellogg’s and Lion.

For this job, the Fighter, backed by Fuso’s nationwide service network, proved the perfect mix of power and reliability for Glen.
“We were very happy with the power output from the turbocharged diesel engine and configuration of the F281U2A is perfect for our needs. That was the real selling point for us, as was the six-speed automatic gearbox.

“The drivers are loving the Fighters compared to what they were driving. They are very comfortable in the cab and the curtain-sides and tail-lifts we’ve added make loading and unloading a breeze.”

Fuso NZ national sales manager Mike Davidson said; “Fighter is the go-to model for keeping stress low and productivity high. Linfox joins a growing number of operators around the country, such as Frucor, Toll and Bidvest to employ the Fighter for their metro and mid-range work.”

The Fighter FN281U2A’s powertrain features a 207kW Euro V 6M60-9AT2 diesel engine paired with an Allison MD3500 six-speed automatic gearbox. It has a GVM of 24,000kg with a wheelbase of 6,530mm.
