MITO does into heavy training

MITO has launched a new training programme that leads to the New Zealand Certificate in Heavy Automotive Engineering – a new and innovative programme that enhances training opportunities in New Zealand’s heavy automotive industry.

The training programme includes new industry-approved unit standards incorporating both on-the-job practical learning in the workplace and online learning, allowing apprentices to complete theory elements in their own time and at their own pace. With access to hundreds of videos and interactive simulations, and theory assessments, online learning is an exciting feature of the new programme that can be accessed at any time and from any device – mobile phone, tablet or computer.

MITO chief executive Janet Lane says: “We are delighted to offer online learning as part of our new training programme. It delivers theory content in an interactive, dynamic and visually engaging way for our apprentices and their employers. It has been developed in close consultation with the heavy automotive industry and designed for apprentices that wish to become fully-qualified heavy automotive technicians. We sincerely thank all those involved for their input and subject expertise.”

The Level 3 programme, which takes 18 months to complete, is now open for enrolments. The Level 4 programme, which will feature strands in Road Transport, Plant and Equipment, Agricultural Equipment, and Materials Handling Equipment, will be available mid-2018.

To enrol contact MITO on 0800 88 21 21 or info@mito.org.nz.
