Kiwi Supercars heroes win big at home

Motorsport

Kiwi Supercars heroes Scott McLaughlin and Shane Van Gisbergen made this year’s ITM SuperSprint meeting at Pukekohe Park Raceway their own.

Red Bull Holden Commodore driver Van Gisbergen was the big winner over the Sept 14-15 weekend, earning the Jason Richards Trophy after setting pole and winning the first race on Saturday then finishing a close second to Shell V-Power Ford Mustang-driving compatriot McLaughlin on Sunday.

The Sunday race win marked yet another milestone in McLaughlin’s amazing career to date however; as his 17th this season it broke a record set by Aussie great Craig Lowndes way back in 1996!

As always at a meeting like the annual Supercars one at Pukekohe there is more going on than the Supercars so we asked master photographer Geoff Ridder to chronicle the action through the lens of his camera.

This stunning spread was the result.

Enjoy!
