Honda has uplifted its CRZ hybrid with a power boost, plus styling changes and more features.
Luxury comes standard in this update, with leather, navigation and a reversing camera included across the range. Taking it even further, the CRZ features a panoramic glass moon roof, usually reserved for the European market.
Black and polished face 17 inch alloy wheels and a revised grille add a sportier look, along with a more aggressive front bumper and sculptured rear diffuser.
Honda’s new 2014 CRZ takes style to the next level with a bold new colour, Premium Gold Purple Pearl added to the range.
Significant enhancements have been made to the CRZ’s hybrid system by changing from a Ni-MH (nickel-metal hydride) to Li-ion (lithium-ion) battery. With the aid of the faster charge and discharge properties of lithium-ion, the CRZ adds an S+ button, which discharges the battery rapidly to give a short, instant boost of acceleration for up to ten seconds. The S+ system works in all three modes (Sport, Normal and ECON) when the battery level is above 50%. This addition helps the driver make the best use of the CRZ’s sporty performance.
These changes result in an improvement in the IMA motor’s power from 10kW to 15kW and combined peak power from 91kW to 99kW in the CVT and 100kW in the manual. Torque is improved from 174Nm to 190Nm in the manual and 167Nm to 172Nm in the CVT.
The CRZ LN is priced from $42,000+ORC.
