The GR Heritage Parts Project is an initiative to reproduce discontinued service parts and reissue them as new, genuine parts to help customers keep their beloved older, memory-filled Toyota classics on the road. Currently, more than 300 parts for eight vehicle models are being reproduced and reissued under the project.
Set to join the GR Heritage Parts lineup this time is the A80 Supra instrument panel.
The GR Heritage Parts project has thus prioritised the reproduction and reissue of parts for a car’s fundamental operational functions – driving, turning, and stopping – to enable customers to continue driving the beloved cars they have held onto for so long. On the other hand, the project has so far not been able to fully address numerous customer requests for the reproduction and reissue of interior and exterior parts, such as dashboards, for keeping their beloved cars in the best possible condition. As the project advances, it intends to continue responding to customer requests by striving to reproduce and reissue the parts needed – from functional parts to interior and exterior parts – to help customers keep their beloved cars running longer and in the best possible condition.
Main features of the part to be reproduced and reissued
Parts reproduced under the GR Heritage Parts Project retain the original basic design while incorporating the latest technologies, manufacturing methods, and materials. The instrument panel to be reproduced and reissued as announced today, like the already-available GR Heritage Parts A80 Supra instrument cluster panel, makes up part of the A80 Supra’s dashboard and extends all the way from the area above the steering wheel to the far edge of the area in front of the front passenger seat. In the dashboard photo, only the areas shown in bright highlight are the instrument panel.
Produced using modern materials
Among plastic car parts, dashboards are particularly subject to harsh conditions, often exposed to sunlight through windshields for prolonged periods, which can cause their surfaces to shrink, crack, or split with age.
The instrument panel, scheduled for reproduction and reissuance, faithfully recreates the texture of the original while incorporating modern materials to address durability concerns.
Reproduction of the original’s embossed grain finish
While modernised for durability, the surface’s embossed grain finish has been faithfully reproduced, down to the grain orientation, for a natural appearance when installed on a beloved car.
The ongoing development of this instrument panel targets an autumn 2026 release. Like conventional genuine parts and other already-available GR Heritage Parts, it is intended to be available across Japan through GR Garage locations, Toyota dealerships, and JMS outlets, which plan to offer installation services.
