Since the 1990s, Brembo has had the opportunity to share its passion in automotive with the enthusiasts and other individuals in the automotive trade of New Zealand. It all started with a long-lasting relationship we have had with the leading parts specialist, BNT.
Today, BNT is our official exclusive distributor to the Automotive aftermarket trade, and in celebrating this partnership of more than 25 years, we are glad to have the BNT stores certified as Brembo Expert Dealers. The experienced staff members of the stores will now have further in-depth knowledge of brake systems as a whole and share our passion for innovation and ongoing search for perfection with the audience of New Zealand.
Brembo is a world leader in the design, development and production of braking systems and components for cars, motorbikes, industrial vehicles, for the OE market, aftermarket and racing. Since its foundation, Brembo has insisted on pursuing innovation, committed to adopting innovative technologies, materials, and appearances, and continuously exploring new markets.
Premium range aftermarket discs
Brembo’s range of products includes a dedicated product line of aftermarket integral and composite two-piece brake discs. This range consist of composite discs (aluminum hat and brake surface in cast iron joined by steel pins), floating discs (aluminum hat and brake surface in cast iron joined by locking bushings) and co-cast discs (steel hat and brake surface in cast iron cast together).
The range covers premium models by some of the most important car makers such as Audi, Mercedes and BMW. As the top brake system manufacturer, Brembo continues to work with O.E. Manufacturer (OEM), and design the most updated premium disc series, to meet the most strictly requirement from the OEM, and Brembo also brings the solution to Aftermarket as well.
Cast disc
The dual cast disc is an exclusive aftermarket solution from Brembo and available for the sportier models in the Audi, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Maserati, and Mercedes AMG ranges.
A fundamental characteristic of this type of disc is the cast iron braking surface and the aluminum hat, which combine the advantages of the way cast iron performs at elevated temperatures with the lightweight properties of the aluminum. The disc offers a weight reduction of up to 30 percent versus an integral disc of the same dimensions, resulting in a significant reduction in both consumption and car emissions.
The added functionality of the disc withstanding permanent thermal deformations (up to 70 percent) improves performance with less residual torque and vibrations.
The range of floating brake discs includes 26-part numbers directly derived by Brembo from OE production. The range encompasses the most exclusive and top performing applications that require high-performance braking systems that can only be guaranteed by Brembo experience in racing. The floating brake disc has an aluminum hat, which greatly reduces the unsprung weight and has a positive impact on comfort, handling, fuel consumption and emissions.
The composite disc, using an aluminum hat, instead of a cast iron, allows the weight of the brake disc to be reduced by approximately 30 percent. It will effectively reduce fuel consumption and improve the performance of the car.
The co-cast disc is the most recent composite disc developed within the Brembo Aftermarket range. It’s used in the most recent Mercedes premium applications – for which Brembo is already the original equipment manufacturer – and it stands out because it uses a steel hat and a high-carbon content cast iron braking surface, joined together by co-casting.
This technology not only ensures the high performance of the brake system, but also reduces the weight of the brake disc by up to 15 percent, effectively reducing energy consumption and emissions, and improving driving control.
Products with LOW-MET and NAO-CERAMIC materials
New Zealand – for one of the most diverse car parcs in the world - Brembo has optimised the offer of OE equivalent pads, developing two lines with specific friction materials: LOW-MET and NAO-CERAMIC.
Brembo LOW MET range – approved in accordance with UN ECE R-90 regulation – guarantees the shortest road braking distance in all conditions thanks to its extremely high friction coefficient and consequently delivers top braking performance, in line with challenging expectation of European car manufacturers and drivers.
On the other hand, the Brembo NAO CERAMIC range, characterized by the red shim, provides premium standards in terms of comfort, smooth and quiet drive, low dust emissions and extended mileage. This is more in line with US and Japanese expectations.
