This is why these guys are the experts: how long does it take to be recognised as an expert in a particular trade-based field?
A decade? Two?
So, anyone who has been in say, the brake industry, since 1878 (that’s not a misprint, 1878) or about 142 years, that would make them experts perhaps eight times over, wouldn’t it?
It may surprise a number of garages and repair centres that BNT’s origins date back to 1878, demonstrating a long history of quality, reliability and innovation when it comes to the importing, manufacturing and distributing brake parts and braking systems in New Zealand.
Today, BNT has over 60 branches nationwide and, while the range of automotive components has increased, the range diversified and the knowledge base and expertise has grown accordingly, the network retains a strong specialisation in brake parts and braking systems.
Now, it’s possible for anyone to stand up and make themselves taller than everyone else while standing on a set of brake shoes, but nothing says ‘specialist’ more than endorsement by a recognised industry leader.
BNT has such an endorsement; from Brembo – arguably one of the best-known suppliers of superior braking systems.
The endorsement comes in the form of the Brembo Expert Programme, where Brembo acknowledges an organisation’s excellence with the implementation of an expanded training and support package to enhance the organisation’s expertise and knowledge.
Tony Lin, category manager for BNT’s brake friction, is excited about the about the programme:
“Not every country has access to the Brembo Expert Programme,” he says. “To gain access to Brembo’s tools, resources, services and reputation is a testimony to the commitment of the BNT team to their customers in delivering only the best in product and expertise.”
With the Brembo Expert Programme hailed as the program designed for the brake experts, a network able to demonstrate an alignment with the programme is clearly a standout one.
“The Brembo Expert training programme will be rolled out in BNT branches nationwide during the remainder of 2020, making BNT New Zealand’s exclusive Brembo Expert dealer,” says Tony.
This does not mean however, that BNT is a network which suits only top end customers.
Indeed, the BNT network stands ready to assist in the supply of all manner of quality braking systems, as would be expected of a network of professionals.
An example? BNT branches carry the C-Plus range of ceramic brake pads, the trade’s number one choice for the vast majority of vehicles on our roads.
The C-Plus range is extensive, encompassing the Synergy, Endurance and Metallic ceramic brake pads, suited to everyday driving, 4WD/SUVs and heavy-duty applications respectively.
“Core to the C-Plus product is an inherent eco-friendly consideration with a reduced copper and heavy metal content and patented ceramic advanced shim technology and cohesive friction technology used in the bonding process. With Cplus there is less dust on the wheels, improved stopping power and quieter, smoother braking for your vehicle,” says Tony.
This friction technology links back to the history of BNT.
Back in 1960, BNT’s ‘ancestral’ organisation – Don Agencies Ltd – pioneered the local production of bonded brake shoes, a product which was taken up by almost every local braking application within the short space of three years.
The Don Agencies years are documented in the sidebar and cannot be ignored as part of the BNT network we have today, which delivers an all-encompassing range of products including the Euro+ braking systems from Bendix.
Specifically designed for European vehicles, Bendix is yet another established quality product range offered by BNT.
There are other products to be found at BNT branches, obviously. However, it takes much more these days than having great product and even expert endorsements.
“BNT’s business is based on a number of considerations outside of its extensive automotive product,” explains Tom Ruddenklau, group marketing manager for BNT. “There is a sense of team cohesion within the BNT network which stems from a passion for the product and the trade supplied.
“It is fair to say our BNT people stay close to their customers and as such, are able to supply the right product from the right ranges to best support the trade on the ground.”
