Big raps for Big Red

A new compact model has joined the distinctive Big Red range of LED driving lights and light bars in New Zealand.

The Big Red brand was launched in this market in early winter, and in a very short time it has already established itself as a popular, attractively priced option for motorists.

Maintaining the momentum, Big Red has released a new 180mm LED free form driving lamp boasting many of the excellent design elements of its 220mm stablemate, but in a more compact and lightweight package.

With its smaller dimensions, the new lamp is extremely versatile and suitable for a wide variety of applications, from use on agricultural vehicles to four-wheel-drives and also passenger cars that may not be able to accommodate a larger diameter driving light.

“We see a big opportunity for the 180mm model, because its smaller dimensions will suit a wider variety of vehicles on our roads, as well as appealing to drivers who have a preference for a driving lamp with a reduced profile,” says Tim Paterson, from Narva New Zealand, which is distributing Big Red in this market.

Attractively priced, the 180mm Big Red driving lamp is equipped with free form reflector technology coupled with the latest high output three 10W XML Cree LEDs. This combination allows the lamp to produce a bright white light of approximately 6,000 Kelvin, yet only draws current of 1A at 12V.

Time says the new lamp draws significantly less power than an HID or halogen bulb, and this is an important factor these days, with so many other demands on the battery.

As well as developing brilliant light, the Cree LEDs are extremely tough, durable and virtually maintenance-free, with a life expectancy of more than 50,000 hours, meaning they could outlive the vehicle they’re fitted to.

The sophisticated free form reflector captures and focuses the light, producing a powerful spot beam combined with a smooth wide spread of light, which makes the lamp ideal for long distance driving on unlit roads.

Big Red’s new 180mm LED driving lamps are robust and use a durable, virtually unbreakable polycarbonate lens and lens protector. The lens protector’s perimeter is red in colour and makes for a striking appearance when fitted to the vehicle, hence the product name.

The driving lamps are ECE and ADR 46/00 approved and suitable for both 12 and 24V applications. Fitment to the vehicle is simple via the high-quality, stainless steel mounting hardware and wiring that includes weatherproof connectors.

For added peace of mind, all Big Red 180mm LED free form driving lamps are covered by a three-year warranty. They are now available from leading automotive outlets through New Zealand.
