The 2026 Supercars Championship roared to life in Sydney last month, seeing a landmark moment for R&J Batteries and Brad Jones Racing with the introduction of the Toyota Supras. The all-new #8 R&J Batteries GR Supra Supercar hit the track for the first time, driven by Kiwi André Heimgartner. The striking new machine signals an exciting new chapter as the team transitions into Toyota’s highly anticipated Supercars program.
The livery retains major sponsor, R&J Batteries and their characteristic red, black and white colour scheme. All while adapting to the Supra’s envied curves and bodywork. The four-month build process presented its fair share of technical and logistical challenges as the team worked tirelessly to bring Toyota’s new-generation Supercar to life. Every detail has been meticulously executed, from the precision application of premium 3M films to the flawless finish achieved using PPG paints on the chassis and panels. The result is a bold, high-impact design that not only looks fast but embodies the energy and power that R&J Batteries brings to motorsport.
Beyond the technical significance, the season also highlights the strength of R&J Batteries’ long-standing partnership with Brad Jones Racing. The 2026 Supercars Championship marks the sixth year of collaboration between the two organisations, with the partnership extended late last year. Over that time, R&J Batteries has become an integral and deeply embedded supporter of BJR.
“The car looks incredible. It feels very special to be part of the Toyota program and to have an R&J Batteries GR Supra on track,” said Ray Robson, R&J Batteries Managing Director. “It’s a whole new era for Brad Jones Racing and for Supercars, and we are very excited to be involved.”
André Heimgartner, equally enthusiastic, described the new livery as one of the most striking of looks till date. “All I can say is ‘wow.’ Look at the car, with the R&J Batteries colours on it. It looks amazing. I have to thank the team for all the effort that has gone into building the Supra. It’s been a challenge, but they’ve achieved something pretty great.”
With the Championship next headed to Taupō in April for the New Zealand round, Kiwi fans can look forward to seeing the R&J Batteries GR Supra continue to charge ahead in what promises to be a defining season.
