Aktron – Petronas master distributor

Parts

Aktron (formally Oil Distributors) was founded in 1992 as a family- owned business to provide businesses in Canterbury with  an alternative lubricant supply to the big four.

Founded on integrity, hard work, a love for providing exceptional service and having “oil in our blood”, this founding signature  still empowers the team at Aktron over 30 years later.

At Aktron, we have built a reputation for suppling lubricants to some of New Zealand’s largest civil infrastructure, mineral  resource and primary industry companies while our automotive passion has driven a strong support for motorsport at every  level from rallying, NZ super cart championships to Trans Ams and everything in between.

Based in Rangiora , our customer service and technical team operate from 7am till 5pm Monday to Friday, and backed by our  two company owned distribution centres in Hamilton and Christchurch, we are able deliver bulk and packaged lubricants  nationally.

We have always held a determination not to compromise on quality which led us to signing an agreement with Petronas in  2019 as a fresh and exciting brand, a brand full of energy and a passion for crafting lubricants that are designed for the extreme conditions of Formula One.

Maximise efficiency
Modern engines are operating at higher temperatures than ever, this arises from the downsized, more compact engines  running at incredible heats along with congested stop/start traffic creating conditions that could not be more challenging for  an oil. Excessive heat is the enemy, causing deposit formation, oxidation and thermal breakdown – all of which reduce the efficiency of the engine.

Most internal combustion engines (ICE) only convert around 35 percent of fuel into power. The remaining energy is not  converted into useful work, but instead wasted, dissipated mainly as heat. To support thermal efficiency, engines need to stay  cool in critical areas where excessive heat causes damage to engine parts. Petronas Syntium with CoolTech+  technology maximises efficiency by controlling engine-damaging heat in order to better protect the engine’s critical parts,  reducing emissions and fuel consumption by up to 3 percent to save money and reduce the environmental impact of your driving for more sustainable motoring.

What makes it different?
The Petronas Syntium range has been uniquely engineered with exceptionally strong oil chains to effectively absorb and  transfer excess heat away from critical engine parts stopping engine damaging heat at its source.

Petronas technology enables the eight-time FIA Formula One world championship-winning Mercedes-AMG Petronas  Formula One car to achieve more than 50 percent thermal efficiency – making it the most efficient racing engine ever  created. It’s just one way we’re racing towards a more sustainable future for everyone.

Our technicians are world leaders when it comes to maximising the potential of every drop of energy – and they pour all their  experience of working with the world’s fastest, most efficient hybrid car, into developing advanced fluids for drivers all over the world.
